On Monday morning, Stephen's clock radio went off at 6:15. But before he could roll over to turn it off, a giant green lizard with huge rubies for eyes did it for him.

Stephen sighed and rubbed the sleep out of his own eyes. The lizard, all seven feet of it, glared at down him, rubies glittering.

"So are you going to get up or do you plan on sleeping the whole day away?"

Stephen didn't reply. His head throbbed something fierce. He chided himself for going out and drinking so much on a Sunday night.

In the bathroom he discovered a large spider with the head of his Uncle Maurie perched on the toilet.
