Versaly subscribers can access Fictionwise's library of popular eBooks
Seattle, WA & Chatham, NJ – April 24, 2001 – Versaly Games, Inc., a
privately owned Seattle-based publisher and distributor of interactive games
and entertaining content to mobile phones, today announced it has partnered
with New Jersey-based Fictionwise.com, a leading independent eBook seller,
to allow Versaly subscribers to download short fiction eBooks to their
mobile phones.
Versaly has become an Affiliate Partner of Fictionwise and paid subscribers
will have access to the Fictionwise library of eBooks from the Versaly
website and next generation mobile phones, including the "Stinger"
smartphone from Microsoft. Fictionwise currently offers over 500
award-winning and high quality eBooks by top authors such as Robert
Silverberg, Larry Niven, Harlan Ellison, and Mike Resnick.
Versaly will securely distribute Fictionwise eBooks over the global 3G
wireless telecommunications network to their subscribers. These eBooks will
be read with Microsoft Reader on a large, full color mobile phone screen.
"Entertainment on mobile phones includes much more than games. Versaly is
working hard to provide our subscribers with as much quality content as
possible to maximize the mobile phone entertainment experience. We realize
the quality of our content is our advantage. Both daily commuters and
weekend campers will enjoy this," said Matthew Feldman, Versaly's President
and CEO.
"We are excited to be working with Versaly to enter the wireless market,"
said Scott Pendergrast, co-publisher of Fictionwise. "The new wireless
phones offer an excellent opportunity to broaden our audience. We believe
that our award-winning short fiction is a perfect fit for the mobile user."
While many companies are developing games on existing wireless application
protocols (WAP) and phones with small black and white screens, Versaly is
publishing electronic games, digital pictures, audio and video clips, short
fiction, cartoons, and other content for next-generation mobile phones,
including the "Stinger" smartphone from Microsoft, with large 16 bit color
graphical screens and high-speed, always-on Internet connections.
